BrewDog – ‘Restorative Beverage for Invalids and Convalescents’ Imperial IPA

I have tasted my own medicine, and it was bitter!

How could you not love a beer that’s inspired by the father of pharmacology, Dr Jonathan Pereira’s 19th century medical textbook description of Indian Pale Ales? This beer will add gravitas to the statement ‘beer is my medicine’. Seriously, if Dr J says that the IPA is, and I quote, “a most valuable restorative beverage for invalids and convalescents”, drink away people. It will cure ALL that ails you.

BrewDog has done what it does best; IPA. If you like their Punk IPA , Hardcore IPA, Jackhammer etc… You’ll love this.

Restorative Beverage for Invalids and Convalescents Imperial IPA pays homage to its IPA origin, which is then pumped up with double the quantity of modern hops. It is precisely how Dr J described IPA; devoid of sweetness and dry. It hop smacks your tongue then glides smoothly down your throat.

If you’re looking for an excuse to drink a beer that will help you live forever, this is it. This potion will be on tap at Archive’s Armakeggon 2015 on Saturday, 29 August.

Let’s medicate together and compare ailments.

The Technical:

Hops: Columbus, Citra, Amarillo, Centennial

AVB: 8.7%

IBU:  100

Colour: Pale (slightly darker than a pilsner).

Taste: Big hop flavour and beautifully bitter. If you don’t like hoppy beers, stay away (and live unhealthily forever).

Overall: If this is what good medicine tastes like, then prescribe its bitter goodness all day long. Drink up!
