What is better than opening a can of beer? Probably a lot of things, but opening a can of brew is on my list. It’s cathartic. It reminds me that the day is over and it’s time to sit back. The crack, the fizz, the burst of beery mist. It’s music to my ears.
When Next Door Cellars asked if I could review this brew for their October specials, I was excited. Not only because it was a free can of booze, but because this beer was my first red love.
Six Strings Dark Red IPA has been a favourite of mine for sometime now. It’s a style of beer that was introduced to me through this very brew which catapulted my love dark IPAs and reds. This brew is so dark that light needs to catch the red hues through the glass, a bit like a cola. It’s colour anticipates the taste. Caramel and chocolate malty flavour, and very bitter. The hops will kick in as soon as your nose rims the glass. It’s a lovely brew.
Colour: Dark Red
Taste: Chocolatey caramel bitter deliciousness.
Overall: How could I ever forget my first Red love. This one is staple.
